Chakra Chat - What Are Chakras?

Chakra is a Sanskrit word meaning ‘wheels of light’, and chakra healing is about balancing the energies that flow through the concentrated spirals that are our chakras.
The seven main chakras are the energy centres of the body. When all of our chakras are open and balanced, energy can run through them. This allows harmony between the physical body, mind, and spirit.
Chakras are like the organs of our aura (energy field), and chakra healing can be used alongside many other practices – reiki, reflexology, aromatherapy, sound therapy, crystal healing and many more.
Each chakra has a purpose, and association with different levels of consciousness. They are linked with colour frequencies, and any blockages can be cleared using colour and crystal healing.
Root Chakra: base of the spine, represents survival and basic needs
balanced by physical activity and meditation

Sacral Chakra: below navel, represents passion and creativity
balanced by self-care and intimacy
moonstone, shungite and any orange stones
Solar Plexus: above navel, represents vitality and willpower
balanced by rest and nutritious diet

Heart Chakra: centre of chest, represents love and understanding
balanced by forgiveness and connection

Throat Chakra: represents communication
balanced by singing/humming, music and nature

Third Eye: brow/forehead, represents intuition and visualisation

Crown Chakra: top of the head, represents unity and self-realisation
