What is Eid al-Fitr?

Eid al-Fitr, a Muslim festival, marks the end of the month-long dawn-to-sunset fasting of Ramadan. This year it starts on the evening of 9th April and continues into the daytime of 10th April.

It is celebrated in many ways including with festive meals. Many Muslims indulge in traditional sweets such as Turkish delight and Halva. Gifts are given and festive lights are lit.

While researching the kinds of things Muslims might usually have on their altars at home, we discovered that many don’t have altars or shrines at home.

We send our good wishes to our Muslim brothers and sisters, in particular, those in Gaza, for whom Irah has created an altar for peace and love.

For this altar Irah chose these crystals to symbolise …

Pink Amethyst - universal love
Rose Quartz - emotional healing, and love & harmony
Bloodstone - grounding & protection
Unakite - creating a calm atmosphere
Selenite - forming a protective grid
Lepidolite - looking for/finding the positive in situations
Prehnite - gridding for peace and protection, unconditional love

She chose these aromatics to symbolise ...

Lemon/Orange/Lemongrass/Citrus - uplifting and energising effects
Lemon Verbena - signifies hope and the fresh start that comes with change
Palo Santo - bringing joy & harmony, facilitating deep healing and protection
Rosemary - purify/clear negative energies and emotions

Namaste
Frank, Irah & Viv
