Are you a list-maker?
Are you a list-maker?
I am. In fact I’m possibly the Queen of Lists. I sometimes even have lists of lists. LOL
Yesterday, Kathryn, who sits across from me a couple of days a week, said “Damn it! I just finished this big thing and went to tick it off my list, but it wasn’t on there.”
Quick as a flash, I said “Add it to the list and then tick it off. You’ve earned that tick. I do it all the time.” We both laughed at the seeming silliness of it, but I’m sure lots of list-makers do it, including Esther Hicks. 😊
I feel a real sense of satisfaction when I get to the end of the day or week and look at all I’ve achieved. Of course there’s always a whole lot more on the list I’ve yet to get to, and there always will be, because I’m adding to my list(s) every day.
A wee problem with this, is that my desks at the shop and at home, tend to be like big black holes that stuff, including lists, get buried in. My home office, which is actually the dining table, is full of sheets of lists, and its so satisfying to every now and then go through them all, highlighting (which is my preferred way of ticking stuff off) all that I’ve achieved, after which I prepare a new list of what’s left on the several pages of lists. I’ve tried using my phone and laptop for my ‘To Do Lists’, but it’s just not the same, and my lists are all written on recycled sheets of paper so I don’t feel guilty about the paper.
Why is this so important for me?
Well, apart from the fact that there’s always lots to do when you own your own business, Inspire Me is a very high-maintenance store to run and my lists definitely help keep me on track.
And also, when my workload feels overwhelming, which it sometimes does, it’s really easy for me to forget just how much I pack into a day, a week, a month; and seeing all the highlighted things on my lists helps me remember that I’m the Queen of Awesomeness. At least that’s what the wonderful team of Earth Angels I work with implied when they gave me the card pictured here for my Birthday in June.
I actually thought I was writing about procrastination today, but I got side-tracked with list-making, which is another reason why I need lists, cos I get side-tracked rather easily. When you’re surrounded with lots of gorgeous sparkly things, the Law of Distraction is constantly at play. In fact you should see what meetings in the stockroom are like. I’m forever telling Angels to stop playing with the sparkles, and focus. LOL
So, if you’re not a list-maker, you might like to try it, especially if you’re feeling overwhelmed by incoming. Happy Highlighting… 😊
