Unconditional Self Love

At almost 65 years old I have obviously seen many Valentines Days, some while being in a relationship and many while single. I’ve been in a relationship with my husband Peter for 21 years, and prior to that I was single for 5 years.

These were valuable years where I learnt quite a bit about myself, including…

  • What I didn’t want in a relationship, which helped me identify what I did want
  • That I can be perfectly happy in or out of a relationship
  • Beginning to love myself unconditionally, which to be honest is still a work in progress

I was beginning to learn how to be in a healthy loving relationship with myself, which I believe led me to Peter, who was different from the men I’d been with previously.

I didn’t really understand that at the time, I guess I was just learning by default, whereas today I’m a lot more deliberate in my PERSONAL GROWTH, and I have the LAW OF ATTRACTION to thank for that.

Practicing SELF LOVE will always be a work in progress because we live in a world where we are constantly challenged by perceived social norms, teaching us that we have to look and behave in a certain way in order to attract love. Another unhelpful belief, whether acknowledged or not, is that we are not complete unless we have a significant other in our lives.

Getting to a place of learning to have UNCONDITIONAL SELF LOVE for ourselves is an amazing journey to be on, and incredibly empowering and liberating.
