Preparing for Tomorrow - Tonight

I don’t know about you, but I like to organise my clothes and food and stuff at night so my morning, which usually starts at around 5.15 these days (because I’ve started walking to the shop again) has a nice flow to it. So, also preparing myself emotionally and mentally the night before makes sense, right?

It was from two of my greatest Teachers Abraham and Wayne Dyer that I first learned that what we think about as we fall asleep at night, plays a big part in what we start thinking about as we wake up in the morning. This in turn helps to pre-pave our day, and while it doesn’t mean that annoying or challenging stuff doesn’t happen, it does help us respond to those challenges in a healthier way, reducing the potential negative impact of them.

Abraham teaches that going to sleep is like pressing a ‘reset button’, giving us the opportunity for a fresh start when we awake. It gives us a bit of time to set the intention that “today I choose to have a good day…”, rather than immediately launching into worries and concerns we may have been feeling yesterday.

So, it obviously makes good sense that we want to think about good things as we drift off, and after many years of practice I’m pretty good at this. I often write in my appreciation/gratitude journal and then fall asleep thinking of the many things I’m grateful for and love about my life. They don’t have to be big things; it can be the memory of a child’s laugh in the shop or the sound of a Tui calling on my walk.

When I wake up, I like to lie there for a few moments ‘just appreciating’ all over again, locking that mindset in for the day. Another part of my morning routine is to play Abraham-Hicks on You Tube as I get ready. Our phones are wonderful tools in that way and so portable. I usually have it sitting on the vanity while I’m getting ready.

Recently some night-time meditations started popping up on my You Tube feed and I thought, what a great idea, to listen to a meditation as I slip off to sleep. Its not that I have trouble getting to sleep, but I’m always keen to try new things, and if listening to a meditation as I go to sleep and having it continue to play for a while after I’ve actually fallen asleep is going to be beneficial, then why wouldn’t I?

Well to be honest, I could think of a reason why it might not be beneficial, and that reason is EMFs from my cell phone. I have my cell phone in our room at night because we don’t have a landline anymore, and I need to be contactable.

Until now I’ve left my phone beside a salt lamp across the room, which I felt would offset the EMFs. But it wouldn’t be fair to Peter to have the sound on for the meditation as it would affect his sleep, so I’ve had an earphone in one ear and the phone sitting on the floor beside the bed.

This worked from a practical point of view, but I kept thinking about the EMFs. Then in a conversation with a friend, it suddenly came to me that I could lay my phone in a bed of crystals in a wooden dish, which I’ve done.

Now I happily slip off to sleep listening to a variety of meditations, absorbing their positive energy, while my crystals absorb/offset EMFs coming off my phone.

Namaste
