How to do a Full Moon Ceremony
Do you charge your crystals during a full moon?
What other rituals and healing do you practice?
I’ve learned a lot about the energy and effects of the moon recently #bestjobever and a full moon is a very powerful time for healing, forgiveness and manifestation – and of course charging crystals!
The high point of the lunar cycle gives oomph to our healing, and aids us in shedding our old ways that no longer serve us. There are so many ways we can pay our respects to Grandmother Moon and benefit from her wisdom and power – here's one way I have adapted from several practices combined, you might like to put in your own twist, add or skip steps as you feel fits your needs:
Forgive, Release, Receive
You can use:
Your own version of an altar, perhaps like the one pictured above
Pen and paper (it feels great to use a beautiful pen, I’ve also resorted to crayons in times of pen scarcity...)
A dish or bowl suitable for safely burning your paper
Incense, blessing bundles, and/or palo santo
Candles and matches
Crystals, cards, talismans, anything you feel adds to and enables your practice.
I like to take a few deep cleansing breaths, and focus my intentions for healing and personal growth. You might like to take a moment to acknowledge your guides and request their guidance.
Light a candle, and some incense - or use these whenever it feels right to do so. (I often light palo santo in between each stage.)
Write your frustrations on a piece of paper. Express what you need to, drawings or scribbling can be useful if the words don’t flow. Don’t dwell on anything, just let it pour out. Some things may surprise you – I love the learning aspect of this practice as it can reveal hidden blockages that were holding me back. Go with the flow, and stop when you feel ‘done.’
If you’ve thought of specific people, take a moment to imagine them each in a love bubble of pink light, and forgive them and all of your expressed frustrations.
Burn the paper.
Take a few more breaths and acknowledge the departing energy, while filling the space left behind with gratitude.
Write down what comes to mind - things you are grateful for, people you love – and really feel the gratitude bubbling within. Keep writing, drawing or scribbling for as long as you feel it flow.
Burn the paper.
Finish with a prayer, or a quiet moment, some more breathing, or whatever feels right for you.
I like to finish with an incantation from Yasmin Boland’s Moonology book:
“I know that I am blessed, and I live my life within that knowing.”
Observing the moon and becoming familiar with her patterns can help maintain our connection to nature, and to our own natural rhythms and cycles. We’ll be exploring more practices in two weeks during the New Moon in Virgo. Come learn with us!
Namaste
