2025 Love Grace Handbag Appeal in New Zealand

I’m sure many of us remember the tragic story of Grace Millane a young British tourist who was murdered in Auckland in 2018.

Grace’s family set up a handbag appeal as a legacy in her name, to help women that have been affected by domestic violence.

They wanted to educate at a grassroots level and raise awareness of male violence towards women, while also providing practical support for women in need.

Working with their local Women’s Refuge, they created a list of items that would be suitable for their clients. And so the Love Grace Appeal was born…

After reading a post that popped up in my facebook feed a couple of weeks ago, I spent a couple of hours shopping for items on the lists they provided, including a bag to pop them in.

I have also included a card with a personal message for the woman who receives my bag, and I hope this beautiful soul will feel the love that has gone into her bag, not only mine, but all those involved in the Love Grace Appeal.

If you’d like to donate a bag to the appeal, you could even gather a group of friends, and have everyone contribute something from the lists provided on their site, and on the poster pictured here.

Here’s a link to the Love Grace Handbag Appeal, showing DROP OFF POINTS around Aotearoa New Zealand.

The HUB East at 10 King Street, is the Palmy Drop off Point, just around the corner from us. 😊

I hope you never need to know what it feels like to have to flee your home with nothing but the clothes on your back, but sadly, this is a reality for far too many Kiwi women, and this is a small way we can show we care, and that they are not alone…

Namaste
