Citrine is always popular, whether it’s natural or the heat-treated variety. The most common form of Citrine found in stores and online tends to be the heat-treated variety. It actually starts its life as Amethyst and is heated in a kiln to get the vibrant colour you’re possibly most familiar with.

While both are effective and it’s believed that the heating process doesn’t affect the stone, it does alter its metaphysical properties somewhat.

I remember the day I learned that Citrine was actually heat-treated Amethyst, which was way back in the first few months of opening Inspire Me. I was completely turned off it. I don’t know why I had such an emphatic response, but I did, and it was probably because it seemed fake to me at that time.

Turn the clock forward a few years, and I felt myself drawn to a heat-treated Citrine cluster while crystal shopping. I didn’t need any big pieces for the shop, but I just kept going back to it, not realising why. I just couldn’t get it out of my mind, and the next day I called them and asked them to add it to my order.

We didn’t need any for the shop, so you can guess where that went… home of course, and she recently made her way from the lounge to the bathroom, where I get to hang out with her every morning and evening.

I have a piece of raw natural Citrine in the Wealth Corner of our house, which is the back left corner of your home.
