Life Changers - Don Miguel Ruiz's 'The Four Agreements'
There are resources at Inspire Me that most of us agree are the Big Players, the Game Changers, the Super Shifters - and Don Miguel Ruiz's 'The Four Agreements' is absolutely one of them.
At the beginning of my first shift in store at Inspire Me, Michelle was showing me around the shop and tapped on 'The Four Agreements' book "Have you read this?" A few days later I was working with Georgia and she told me how much the book meant to her. While I was preparing to write this post, I asked Georgia a few questions about 'The Four Agreements', with the intention to pick out some quotes from her answers. Her response was so wonderful I'm sharing it as she wrote it:
"I brought a copy of 'The Four Agreements' after Michelle spoke about it. I read it from front to back in an afternoon, I just couldn't put it down, it's filled with things we know, but don't recognize or know how to put into practice. 'The Four Agreements' is a really empowering, simple way to start to make powerful change within our thoughts, that impacts our daily lives immediately and those we come into contact with in a positive way.
Any time a customer, friend or family are looking for a way forward, my go-to recommendation is 'The Four Agreements', because it's such a simple way to create a new mindset - by understanding the current one." – Georgia
I (Kathryn) used to have a copy of the book that, I assumed, had moved on to the next person on it's journey. These days I regularly pull a card from the deck, to remind myself to remain authentic. Today I was clearing a "doom pile" from my bench, and there was my copy of the book, lost for over a year and found on the day I wrote this post! Thanks Universe
Many of us have stories about 'The Four Agreements' - see a piece of Michelle's below - and I'm sure we'll be sharing more staff stories with you soon!

Michelle says:
"I discovered The Four Agreements years ago, and it’s no secret that it’s one of my favourite books. For years I had little cards I made of the Four Agreements on my bathroom mirror, but over time I stopped looking at them, and eventually took them down.
When we were deciding on what book or card deck we’d talk about this week I thought hmmm maybe I could make up an A4 sheet of the Four Agreements, laminate it, and pop it up in my shower. And then I thought - others might like to have one in their shower too, so today I made up and laminated a whole bunch of them, which we’ll give away when someone buys a copy of the book in-store, and which out of towners can download from our website for free and print off.
Why the shower? You ask. Well, I’m in the shower for several minutes every morning, and I have a set of shoulder exercises I do in there (which work a treat by the way) and reading the Four Agreements every day just has to be good for me.
Laminating the sheet means that with a bit of moisture it will actually just stick to the wall of your shower. So long as there’s moisture in your shower each day it will probably just stay up there. You can do it with all sorts of Affirmations..."
