Nostalgia in Every Stitch: A Story of Sisterhood
I got out of the shower this morning thinking what will I wear today, and I chose a dress I've not worn before, but felt it was a bit drab, so I went looking for something to brighten it.
I love scarves and have a bit of a collection, that I mostly don't wear, because I struggle to find ways of tying them.
My eyes alighted upon this colourful creation, and I smiled as beautiful memories flooded back.
Several years ago, my sisters and I nursed our Mum at her home for the last three weeks of her life. I don't think Ness and Kerrin, and I had spent so much time together since Ness and I were kids, (Kerrin is 9 years older than me, and Ness is the baby).
Kerrin spent a lot of time knitting, something Mum also loved doing, and she knitted this gorgeous scarf for me, for my birthday I think, which was a week or so before Mum passed.
I was talking with a lovely woman earlier this week, who was buying some melts, a flavour she really loved because it's scent brought special memories to life for her. We talked about music doing that too, and I shared a story about a Cher song that brought back memories of a special time in my life.
And today I'm wearing a scarf that I'll never part with because of the memories it holds of the last weeks of my Mum's life, and the beautiful time I shared with my sisters.
Namaste
