STAFF PICK:  "This week I’m excited to tell you about a deck that would be one of my top picks in store, THE TAROT OF THE ABYSS by Ana Tourian.

The deck was first released in May of 2021, and Inspire Me had it pre-ordered. Because of the state of the world's shipping, and the demand for the deck, we didn’t see it until March 2022, and that first shipment flew off the shelves so fast that I didn’t even get to see it! It was a torturous 4.5months before we were able to get the next shipment. Thankfully the availability is flowing now and we’re seeing it come through more regularly now (but it can be variable).

This is a modern-traditional deck with 78 cards that follow the traditional Rider Waite meanings, although Ana provides her own interpretation in the accompanying guidebook too. You will actually find 80 cards in the deck as she has provided two illustrations for the 3 of swords and the 10 of swords so that readers may select the illustration/interpretation that speaks to them best.

This is Ana’s fifth divination deck, and third tarot. Her first tarot, 'Hidden Waters Tarot', was released as an indi deck, and was ordered one at a time straight from the printer. Her second 'Bonestone and Earthflesh Tarot' created in conjunction with Avalon Cameron, was Kickstarted and was a massive success, gaining a substantial following and quickly becoming a sought-after collector’s item. When the publisher, US Games, signed the 'Tarot of the Abyss', taking it straight to mass-market, that was validation for me that this deck was likely to live up to expectation and follow in the footsteps of her previous work. I knew I was going to love it, and I do!

This deck does not disappoint! Ana’s artwork doesn’t shy away from the hard topics, and whilst it isn’t dark or frightening, the imagery has a way of reaching into your soul. The term hauntingly beautiful comes to mind, and I find her deck a fabulous intuitive read. She does a marvellous job of capturing the essence of each card in her detailed monochrome linework.

I find Ana’s written interpretations of the cards valuable and insightful, they are an easy read, short yet full of substance, and they lack the cryptic nature of some tarot guidebooks. Our New Zealand-wide standard shipping option for CBD and residential addresses costs a flat fee of $10, unless your order includes an item that is large or heavy, then additional shipping charges will be specified in the product description.

We do have some items that are so heavy or fragile that we have made them pick-up only items. Sometimes we are able to help package them if you'd like to arrange your own carrier, but not all items are easily packaged or covered by carrier insurance, so please call us to discuss prior to placing the order.

    Orders are delivered by NZ Couriers and require a signature upon delivery. Please make sure the delivery address is where someone can sign for the delivery. If no one is home when delivery is attempted a card will be left advising the date and time of attempted delivery. One more attempt will be made to deliver your order, after that you will be required to pick it up from your nearest NZ Couriers office. Please make sure you bring ID with you when picking up the parcel, otherwise it will not be released.

    Under normal circumstances your order will be dispatched within 2 business days and arrive within a week. Please note that your order may be sent in more than one parcel.

    Dispatch and delivery days are Monday to Friday.

    Please be aware that some isolated regions may require additional delivery time. If this is the case for your area we will notify you of this prior to processing your order. We cannot deliver to Post Office Boxes or Private Boxes. We do not deliver outside New Zealand, however orders may still be placed from overseas with a New Zealand delivery address.

    CANCELLING YOUR ORDER

    If you cancel before your order is dispatched you will receive a full refund.

    However, if the goods have already been sent to you, at the time of cancellation, you will not be able to cancel your order. You will need to follow the returns process and your shipping charges will not be refunded.

    DAMAGED PRODUCT
