Also known as Chinese New Year, Lunar includes Korean, Vietnamese, Tibetan and others who use the lunisolar calendar, which is based on moon phases and the sun's position.

Traditional celebrations last up to 16 days and can include lantern festivals. Palmerston North has a Lunar New Year celebration in Te Marae o Hine – The Square on Saturday, 28th January 2023.

Chinese astrology welcomes the Year of the Rabbit, which stands for calm, harmony and kindness.

Decorating in red is thought to bring prosperity and good fortune - Lunar New Year is all about abundance and setting positive intentions for the coming year. It's also a great time for clearing out, cleansing and letting go. I like to light some candles, bless my home with a herb bundle and read something inspiring to raise my energy.
