Creating a Sacred Bathroom Space
With all that’s going on this year, internationally, nationally, economically, and personally, I’ve found myself feeling a lot of anger, pain, anxiety, and grief, and I don’t like it! I’ve spent way too much time talking about stuff that I can’t change, even though I know it’s not helping any of these situations.
Like many, I’ve found myself caught up in the wave of negative momentum, and finding solace in the bath at the end of many days, has been really helpful. I often get home from work, run a bath and climb in, as a way to wind down and let go of some of that negativity.
I’m writing this because a couple of weeks ago, a lovely woman by the name of Lesley, was chatting with me in the shop, and she commented that she and others buy crystals for the energy they generate, and then once they get them home, they don’t actually know what to do with them, as in how to get them to work their magic. She asked if I’d thought of running workshops on this, and I explained that it wasn’t something I’d thought of, or indeed felt I had the knowledge or skills to do.
I think she was a bit surprised, because I own a crystal shop; But for me, crystals are a part of my daily life. I choose them intuitively and move them around my home without even thinking about it, except sometimes I find myself doing it by colour, but even that choice is intuitive.
I carry crystals I’m drawn to on my body, without giving it too much thought. I just trust that I’m drawn to them for a reason, leaving them to work their magic, and so long as I open myself up to allowing that magic to happen, and don’t over-think things, they do.
Do I always achieve this? Of course not! I’m way too much of an over-thinker to get that right all the time, but I do find my way back, and I’m grateful for the important personal and spiritual growth these situations always provide.
My conversation with Lesley got me thinking about how I could help others use their crystals and other sacred items in an everyday way, to help find some peace in this crazy world we inhabit. So, I thought I’d refresh our bathroom, which really has become a sacred space for me. I decided to choose crystals with deliberate intention that would help me release some of that grief, anger, anxiety, and pain.

PLANTS, SMELLS, AND LIGHTING…
One of my Beautiful Besties Rachel inspired me to add plants to my bathroom some time ago, and these add to the feelings of peace and serenity I sought to create. I even created a couple of new terrariums for my bathroom.
We (mostly Peter) put some pretty lights up to add to the ‘good feels’, and lighting candles would be just as lovely...
Some nice bath crystals/salts or a diffuser/oil burner also add a lovely feel.
IS YOUR BATHROOM A SAFE HAVEN, where you can relax and de-stress after a long day?
Try adding a crystal or two, and a plant or two.
You've probably already got a few (or lots), and you can do what I did, which was to wander around the house seeing what i was to drawn to. Try popping some into your bathroom, give it a little time, and see if you can feel the change in that space, and yourself…
