Fire Quartz Sphere - A Warm Light, Held Still

There is something quietly mesmerising about a sphere — no edges to catch the eye, no single point of focus, just a smooth, continuous surface that seems to hold the light from every angle at once. The sphere has long been regarded as a symbol of wholeness and unity, its unbroken form traditionally associated with harmony and energy that radiates evenly in every direction, rather than being directed toward any single point. In fire quartz, also known as hematoid quartz, natural hematite inclusions bring warm red and burgundy tones into clear to milky quartz, and as the sphere turns, those tones shift gently with the light.

Fire quartz carries a grounded, vitalising energy, traditionally associated with courage and a renewed sense of motivation. Shaped into a sphere, that quality feels wonderfully whole — a complete, unbroken form that suits a meditation space, a desk, or simply a quiet spot where its warmth can be appreciated every time you walk past.

Some of the Healing & Metaphysical Properties

Fire Quartz is traditionally associated with the following properties:

  • Grounding and stability: The hematite inclusions within fire quartz bring a powerful grounding quality, believed to anchor scattered or anxious energy and support a more settled, centred sense of presence.
  • Vitality and motivation: Carries a warm, energising quality associated with renewed enthusiasm, physical vitality, and a more engaged and forward-moving approach to daily life.
  • Courage and personal power: Widely associated with supporting a strong, confident sense of self — helping to overcome self-doubt, fear, and inertia and encouraging bold, purposeful action.
  • Emotional balance: Believed to help stabilise mood, ease emotional reactivity, and support a clearer, more grounded emotional state — particularly during periods of overwhelm or uncertainty.
  • Mental clarity and focus: Associated with clearing mental fog, sharpening concentration, and supporting a more ordered and intentional state of mind during demanding or complex periods.
  • Amplification: As a variety of quartz, fire quartz is widely regarded as an amplifying stone — believed to magnify intention, personal energy, and the grounding, stabilising qualities of the hematite within it.
  • Chakras and zodiac: Most strongly associated with the Root, Sacral, and Solar Plexus chakras, and traditionally associated with Aries, Scorpio, Leo, and Capricorn.

How You Can Use Your Sphere

  • Anchor a meditation space: Hold your sphere or place it nearby during meditation to support a grounded, focused state of mind.
  • Bring warmth to a desk: Place your sphere within view to support motivation and mental clarity during demanding tasks.
  • Display with intention: Rest your sphere on a stand to let the light move through the stone and highlight its natural colour.
  • Support a crystal grid: Use your sphere as a central anchor stone in a grid focused on grounding or vitality.
  • Hold during reflection: The smooth, rounded shape makes it a natural, tactile companion for quiet moments of reflection.
  • Gift with intention: A thoughtful gift for anyone needing a little extra courage, motivation, or grounded energy.

Appearance & Specs

Fire quartz — also known as hematoid quartz — is a variety of clear quartz containing natural inclusions of hematite, an iron oxide mineral whose presence creates the characteristic warm red, orange, and burgundy tones the stone is known for. The colouring typically ranges from soft blush pink and warm terracotta through to deep rust red and rich burgundy, with the hematite inclusions distributed through the quartz in flowing, organic patterns that vary naturally from piece to piece. The quartz itself ranges from fully translucent to milky white, providing a natural contrast against the hematite inclusions within.

The sphere has been cut and polished to a smooth, even finish, allowing light to pass through and highlight the inclusions from every angle as it is turned. Natural inclusions, surface variation, and internal differences are entirely normal and part of what makes each sphere genuinely individual.

  • What you'll receive: This is the piece you will receive.
  • Dimensions: 4.5cm (Diameter) All measurements and weights are approximate.
  • Colour: Soft blush pink and warm terracotta through to deep rust red and rich burgundy, set against translucent to milky white quartz.
  • Care: Fire quartz is best kept away from prolonged water exposure, as the hematite inclusions may be affected by moisture over time, and indirect light is best to preserve the warm tones. Wipe with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth and store on a soft surface away from harder crystals; cleanse with moonlight, smoke, or sound.

The Geology

Fire quartz, also known as hematoid quartz, is a variety of clear quartz containing natural inclusions of hematite, an iron oxide mineral that crystallises within the quartz as it forms, producing the characteristic warm red, orange, and burgundy tones. The hematite is distributed in flowing, organic patterns through the quartz body, distinct from the coarser surface coating seen in specularite quartz, and the intensity of colour depends on how much hematite was present and how it was distributed during crystallisation.

Things You Might Want to Know

  • What is the difference between fire quartz and hematoid quartz? They are the same stone — fire quartz is the widely used trade name, while hematoid quartz is the mineralogical name. Both refer to quartz containing natural inclusions of hematite.
  • Is the red colour natural? Yes — the warm red, orange, and burgundy tones in fire quartz are caused entirely by natural hematite inclusions within the quartz crystal, with no dye or artificial enhancement.

FREIGHT AND HANDLING CHARGES

Please ensure you select the correct shipping option at checkout before you make your payment.

Our New Zealand-wide standard shipping option including rural delivery costs a flat fee of $10. We also offer Click & Collect from the NZ Couriers Depot in Palmerston North for a flat fee of $3 - considerably less than they charge us.

Unsure of your postcode? You can check your shipping address HERE to check the suburb or town and get the postcode.

Orders are delivered by NZ Couriers and require a signature upon delivery. Please make sure the delivery address is where someone can sign for the delivery. If no one is home when delivery is attempted a card will be left advising the date and time of attempted delivery. One more attempt will be made to deliver your order, after that you will be required to pick it up from your nearest NZ Couriers office. Please make sure you bring ID with you when picking up the parcel, otherwise it will not be released.

Under normal circumstances your order will be dispatched within 2 business days and arrive within a week, often sooner. Please note that your order may be sent in more than one parcel.

Dispatch and delivery days are Monday to Friday.

Please be aware that some isolated regions may require additional delivery time. If this is the case for your area we will notify you of this prior to processing your order. We cannot deliver to Post Office Boxes or Private Boxes. We do not deliver outside New Zealand, however orders may still be placed from overseas with a New Zealand delivery address.
