Ruby has been prized since ancient times, worn by warriors and rulers who turned to its boldness for courage and protection in difficult moments. The deep green zoisite surrounding it lends a steadier, more grounded quality, gently tempering ruby's fire with quiet earthy strength. Many who work with Ruby in Zoisite describe a sense of passion held in balance — enough fire to feel alive, enough calm to stay centred. Strung together along a single strand, the vivid ruby flashes seem to glow against the rich green backdrop, each bead telling its own small story of contrast and harmony.

Ruby in Zoisite, sometimes known by the trade name anyolite, was only discovered in the Tanzanian highlands in the mid-twentieth century, making it a relatively recent addition to the world of gemstones despite the ancient lineage of ruby itself. It is widely associated with supporting emotional healing and a more open, courageous heart, helping ease the way through periods of change. Many jewellery makers are also drawn to Ruby in Zoisite for its sense of personal transformation, believing its dual nature supports both the willingness to grow and the groundedness to do so steadily. Strand in hand and ready to be shaped into bracelets, necklaces, or other handmade pieces, it carries a quiet sense of vibrancy and depth into every design you create.

Some people feel Ruby in Zoisite supports courage and a more open heart. Others use it to encourage personal transformation and a renewed sense of vitality. Many simply love its bold contrast of red and green, and the grounded warmth it brings to their creative process.

For jewellery makers, bead strands offer exceptional value, creative flexibility, and real profit potential. Buying by the strand means you have enough beads for multiple finished pieces — bracelets, necklaces, earrings, malas, keyrings, or intention-based designs — at a significantly lower cost per bead than buying singles. This gives you higher margins on handmade jewellery, matching beads for cohesive and professional collections, consistent colouring across your designs, and the freedom to create multiple pieces from a single purchase. Each strand becomes a palette of deep forest green and vivid ruby red, ready to be shaped into bold, heart-centred creations.

Some of the Healing & Metaphysical Properties

Ruby in Zoisite is traditionally associated with the following properties:

Vitality and life force: Strongly associated with a renewed sense of energy, enthusiasm, and engagement with life — ruby in zoisite is believed to support a more vibrant and motivated approach to daily living.

Heart opening: Deeply connected to the heart, this combination is believed to support greater emotional openness, compassion, and the courage to give and receive love more freely.

Passion and courage: Ruby's fiery energy is traditionally associated with igniting passion, supporting bold action, and helping to overcome fear, self-doubt, and inertia.

Grounding growth: Zoisite's earthy, nurturing quality is believed to anchor ruby's more expansive energy, supporting steady, grounded personal growth rather than scattered enthusiasm.

Transformation: Widely regarded as a stone of profound personal transformation, ruby in zoisite is associated with supporting deep inner change — helping to release what no longer serves and step into a more authentic and empowered version of oneself.

Joy and positivity: Believed to carry an uplifting, life-affirming energy that supports a more joyful, open-hearted, and optimistic approach to the world.

Appearance & Structure

Dimensions: 6-7mm. All weights and measurements are approximate.

Number of Beads per Strand: 58-64
Approx. Ruby in Zoisite Bead Strand – Bold Heart, Grounded Spirit

There's a striking contrast at the heart of every Ruby in Zoisite bead strand — fiery red set against deep forest green, two very different energies held together in one stone.

Appearance & Structure

Dimensions: 6-7mm. All weights and measurements are approximate.

Number of Beads per Strand: 58-64
Approx. Length of Strand: 36-37cm

Ruby in Zoisite is a naturally occurring combination of ruby, a variety of corundum, and zoisite, a calcium aluminium silicate mineral, which form together within the same matrix. The base colour is a rich, deep green, ranging from forest green through to softer olive and grey-green tones depending on the piece. Ruby appears within the green as irregular patches, streaks, and concentrated areas of deep pink-red to vivid crimson, varying naturally between beads in both the intensity of the red and the proportion of ruby to zoisite visible. Many beads also carry seams and inclusions of black hornblende, which adds a further layer of contrast and depth and is entirely natural. Natural variation in colour, pattern, and the balance of red against green between beads is entirely normal and part of what makes each strand genuinely individual.

Important Notes

Assorted Crystals

When a product is labelled 'assorted,' the photos shown are examples only. Your piece will be similar in quality and beauty, but not identical. Each piece varies naturally in tone, shimmer, surface texture, and formation — this variation is part of its natural charm.

Dyed, Frosted, Heat Treated or Otherwise Enhanced Stones

Where finishing is applied (e.g., frosting, dyeing or heat treating), it primarily affects appearance; the underlying stone remains the same and is believed to still carry its traditional metaphysical associations.

Care & Cleansing Suggestions

 • Gentle cleaning: Wipe your beads with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth to remove dust and oils, avoiding harsh chemical cleaners or abrasive materials.
 • Avoid soaking: Brief contact with water is generally well tolerated, but extended soaking is not recommended, and beads should be dried thoroughly afterwards.
 • Safe storage: Store your strand on a soft surface or in a pouch, away from harder crystals or abrasive materials that could scratch the polished beads.
 • Moonlight cleansing: Place your beads under the light of the moon overnight to cleanse their energy.
 • Smoke cleansing: Pass your beads gently through smoke from incense or herbs to clear stagnant energy.
 • Sound cleansing: Use a singing bowl, bell, or chime near your beads to support a gentle energetic reset.

Frequently Asked Questions

 • Will my bead strand look exactly like the photos? Each piece is naturally unique, so your beads may differ slightly in tone, pattern, or the balance of red and green, but will be similar in overall quality.
 • Is the ruby in this stone a gemstone-quality ruby? The ruby in ruby in zoisite is a genuine variety of corundum — the same mineral as gemstone ruby — but forms within the zoisite matrix rather than as a separate facetable gemstone. • What are the black areas in the stone? The black veining and inclusions visible in many ruby in zoisite pieces are hornblende — a naturally occurring mineral that forms alongside the ruby and zoisite during the stone's development. It is entirely natural and one of the most distinctive visual features of this stone.
 • Is this a natural stone? Yes — ruby in zoisite is a naturally occurring combination of ruby, a variety of corundum, and zoisite, a calcium aluminium silicate mineral. FREIGHT AND HANDLING CHARGES

Please ensure you select the correct shipping option at checkout before you make your payment.

Our New Zealand-wide standard shipping option including rural delivery costs a flat fee of $10. We also offer Click & Collect from the NZ Couriers Depot in Palmerston North for a flat fee of $3 - considerably less than they charge us.

Unsure of your postcode? You can check your shipping address HERE to check the suburb or town and get the postcode.

Orders are delivered by NZ Couriers and require a signature upon delivery. Please make sure the delivery address is where someone can sign for the delivery. If no one is home when delivery is attempted a card will be left advising the date and time of attempted delivery. One more attempt will be made to deliver your order, after that you will be required to pick it up from your nearest NZ Couriers office. Please make sure you bring ID with you when picking up the parcel, otherwise it will not be released.

Under normal circumstances your order will be dispatched within 2 business days and arrive within a week, often sooner. Please note that your order may be sent in more than one parcel.

Dispatch and delivery days are Monday to Friday.

Please be aware that some isolated regions may require additional delivery time. If this is the case for your area we will notify you of this prior to processing your order. We cannot deliver to Post Office Boxes or Private Boxes. We do not deliver outside New Zealand, however orders may still be placed from overseas with a New Zealand delivery address.
