By: Rebecca Cobb (Author & Illustrator)

About the Book

Written and illustrated by the talented and award-winning author-illustrator Rebecca Cobb, this extraordinary book deals with the loss of a parent from a child's point of view. Perfectly pitched text and evocative artwork explore the many emotions a bereaved child may experience — from anger to guilt, from sadness to bewilderment. Importantly, the book also focuses on the positive: the recognition that the child is still part of a family, and that memories of a much-loved parent are to be treasured. Written with the guidance and support of a child bereavement charity, Missing Mummy is beautifully illustrated with moments of wonderful warmth and the gentlest humour, approaching a difficult subject with great honesty and integrity.

What's Inside

  • A 32-page full-colour picture book, gently written and illustrated for young children
  • Simple, first-person text designed to be read aloud and to open up conversation
  • Illustrations that carry as much of the emotional story as the words themselves

Who It's For

Ideal for children navigating the loss of a parent, and for the parents, caregivers, teachers, and counsellors supporting them — a gentle starting point for conversations that are often difficult to begin.
